In all of my years on submarines, I can never remember pulling into an underground submarine base. Probably because we didn’t have any! The Russians apparently did have a big underground submarine base and docks once in the USSR. After the Soviet Union collapsed and the Russian army left Ukraine it was partly abandoned and some of its parts was converted into a museum later.

Amazing! Just think, people in USSR stood in line for days just to get the basic food necessities and millions were spent on a submarine base. Something is wrong with that picture!

Great picture! Beats the Hell out of Kings Bay as far as looks but I’ll take Georgia over Ukraine any day a permanent duty station!!
