CHRIS FRYE FOR PA LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
I am currently the Mayor of New Castle, PA and I have the distinction of being the first African American Mayor in the City’s 200-year history. I am married to Danielle Young-Frye and I am the father of 3 beautiful children. I graduated from Gannon University with a Master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Community Organizing and Social Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. While in Pittsburgh, I immersed myself in opportunities to study organizations and neighborhood development. I also researched various Pittsburgh neighborhoods that have today undergone transformational revitalization.
Largely I credit my success to my upbringing as I grew up in a home that valued faith, integrity, responsibility, and service to others. My mother, also a Social Worker, was a single parent of 4 for most of my life. She lived by faith and taught us Christian principles, mainly Servant Leadership. The uphill battle of not being financially stable caused tremendous stress in our household, yet, through all the struggles because of my mother’s steadfastness, I was able to escape the mental and physical grips of poverty. And to this day I continue to ascend.
During my non-profit management tenure, I worked in workforce development, managed State agency grants, a federal reentry program in Pittsburgh and juvenile probation. I am also a former adjunct professor of Human Diversity. Today, I continue to be an active member of my community serving on the Lawrence County YMCA Board of Directors, Foundation Boxing Board of Directors and Co-Chair of Pennsylvania Municipal League Legislative Committee. I am also an Executive Board member serving as the Northwest District Officer, Westminster College Board of Trustees, Almira Foundation Board of Directors and avid supporter of the NAACP New Castle Chapter.
