Attention getting? Probably. Original? Probably not.
People have been wishing this since the earliest days of our Republic. The world was pretty crowded when we came along and you can bet that the people who came before the Founders worried that at some point the pioneers would start thinking about freedom from the “old ways”. American wasn’t an entity back then, just a loose collection of colonies and unexplored territories. (Unexplored unless you count the indigenousness people who were actually here before the Europeans who eventually created America as we know it.)
I am sure that in retrospect, those indigenous people were and perhaps still are thinking “Death to America” in one way or another. It wasn’t long though before many people who lived in “Old Europe” started forming a hatred for this young upstart. We stole many of their best and brightest who saw the chance to grow and become successful without the aid of their Lords and Ladies. They were free to succeed (or fail) in a new place with unlimited freedom and opportunity.
The Muslim Potentates soon felt the sting of American justice as the fledgling Marines were unleashed on the shores of Tripoli with modern weapons, modern tactics, and the will of the American spirit.
That spirit said that we would not be dictated to by minor hoodlums wrapped in the robes of religion or dictatorships. Our muscle was based on a new idea that said nations should respect other nations, not apologize to them.
I can’t believe we have come to a place where America allows itself to be flogged by potentates and phony religions. Why should we allow all of the progress paid for by the blood of Americans to be traded so cheaply to the latest generation of American Haters? To me, the answer is simple. The leader of our country is draped in the same mantle of hatred towards America that his father and grandfather were. Its in his book. It’s the reason he must be defeated.
America is the greatest nation in the history of the earth. Not because of our economy. Not because of our military. Not because of our government. It is the greatest nation because we help all others to realize that they can be the greatest country too. They can become the best because of their chance to be free, reject tyranny from potentates, priests, presidents and pirates. I welcome all of those nations to that club. I reject the ones that hate us for the freedom we represent.
